Cosmetology

The Cosmetology program provides students with the skills necessary to enter a fast-paced and highly-competitive industry.  Students learn basic entry-level job skills and develop an attitude of lifelong learning.  The extensive training covers permanent waving, hair coloring, hairstyling, skin care, shaving, chemical and physical hair straightening, manicuring, and pedicuring.  Students also learn the importance and value of creating and maintaining a client database, as well as observing proper health and hygiene standards within their working environment.  Beginning each November, experienced students operate an in-house cosmetology clinic where they can apply learned techniques on clients from the community.  After acquiring 600 hours, Cosmetology students will obtain a student permit allowing them to work in a salon after school or on weekends.  Upon completion of the program, students are prepared to take and expected pass the State Board Examination to receive the Cosmetology and Hair Styling license.
