Scholarship Information

 

The following SCVTS Educational Foundation scholarships are available annually to a graduating senior enrolled full-time in a career and technical education program or an academy program and planning to continue their education at a two or four year college or university.  Seniors may apply for these scholarships in May.

Scholarship Name:   Mannington Mills “Stand On A Better World” Scholarship

Amount: $1000.00

Eligibility:  Must be a senior in a Salem County school. Dependents and relatives of employees at Mannington Mills, Inc are welcome to apply. Student must be enrolled at an institution of  higher learning for fall 2015. Student must demonstrate dedication to community service.

Scholarship Name:  Atlantic County International Association of Insurance Professionals Scholarship

Amount:  $500.00

Eligibility:  Must be a graduating High School Senior planning to attend any College or University.

Scholarship Name:  Disabled American Veterans Department of New Jersey (DAVNJ), Robert H. Yancey, Sr. Scholarship

Amount:   $1000.00

Eligibility:  Graduating High School Senior, planning to attend a school after graduation.  Must be a New Jersey resident & natural or adopted descendent of a member of the DAVNJ.  Must be able to provide proof of relationship to the Veteran in the Organization.

Scholarship Name:  Fannie B. Miller Trust Fund

Amount: $1,500.00 to be divided among chosen applicants.

Eligibility:  Student applicants must reside in the communities of Elmer, Pittsgrove, Upper Pittsgrove, Alloway, or Oldmans Township. Student must be accepted at an approved institution of higher learning, and demonstrate a need for financial assistance.  Applicant must plan to major in Education and/or intend to engage in the profession of teaching.

Scholarship Name:  South Jersey Bass Club Association, 2015 Carmen Bersani Memorial College         Scholarship Program

Amount:  $500.00

Eligibility:  High School senior who plans on attending college and will be pursuing a degree in fisheries management, environmental science, or another related field that may benefit fisherman (ie-conservation officer, biological sciences, green acres studies, and the preservation of outdoor activities).

Scholarship Name:  South Jersey Chapter of Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)

Amount:  $1,000.00

Eligibility:  Must be a graduating senior attending college in the fall of 2015.  Must be a Type I Diabetic and participate in one or more sports, and maintain a 3.5 GPA or better.

Deadline:  May 15, 2015

Scholarship Name:  The Thornton Sisters Foundation, Inc., Donald and Itasker Thornton Memorial Scholarship.

Amount:  A one-year educational scholarship of an undesignated amount (depending on the amount of funds available to the foundation for the current school year).

Eligibility:  Must be a graduating female senior of color (African American, Latino American, Caribbean American, Native American, etc), entering a four year accredited college or university.  Must have an average GPA of 2.5 or better.  Must be able to provide tax statements or some other proof of parents’ income.  Official verification of college acceptance is required and all scholarship monies will be payable directly to the college.

Scholarship Name:  Salem County School Nurses Association Scholarship

Amount:  $500.00

Eligibility:  Must be a Salem County resident graduating in June 2015. Must be able to show acceptance by/or commitment to an accredited college or university in any RN nursing program (2, 3, or 4 year program).

Scholarship Name:  South Jersey Bowling Association, Hank Mills Educational Assistance Award

Amount:  $500.00

Eligibility:  Must be a high school senior.  Must be sponsored by a member of the South Jersey USBC Bowling Association.  Sponsors must be a current member of South Jersey USBC Bowling Association.

Deadline:  April 15, 2015

Scholarship Name:    Alloway Wistarburg Ruritan Club Scholarship

Amount:  $1,000.00

Eligibility:  Seniors who are from Alloway and attend Salem County Vocational Technical Schools.

Scholarship Name:  Thomas W. Hassler, Jr./American Legion Ambulance Association Memorial Scholarship

Amount:  TBD

Eligibility:  Must be continuing education in the medical field and community involvement.  Short essay:  “Why I am interested in the medical field?”

School Counts

This is a scholarship program offered by Salem Community College (SCC).  If you achieve the following criteria for every semester for all four years of high school, you are automatically eligible for a full scholarship to SCC.

Criteria:

  • Earn a grade “C” or better in every course
  • Achieve a 95 percent attendance and punctuality record
  • Take more than the minimum graduation requirements
  • Complete high school in four years (eight semesters)
