Message from the Principal

The Salem County Career and Technical High School is a comprehensive high school that is designed to provide career and technical education programs that prepare secondary and postsecondary students for employment, for higher education leading to employment, and for life-long learning. A complete array of academic and related programs is provided to support career and technical education programs. In addition, essential skills such as ethics and other “soft skills” are taught.

The school serves both full and shared-time students in grades nine through twelve. Shared-time students participate in career and technical education programs for a half-day and attend their resident high school for academic and related instructional programs during the other half of the day. Full-time students attend the Career and Technical High School for the entire day and receive full academic, as well as career and technical instruction. In addition to housing twelve career and technical education programs and the Career Orientation program, the Salem County Career and Technical High School also houses the Academy of Biological and Medical Sciences and the Academy for Energy Applications.
Career and technical programs offered include: The Air Force Junior ROTC (Military Science), Allied Health Professionals, Auto Collision Repair, Automotive Technology, Child Care and Early Childhood Education, Computer Assisted Design and Drafting, Construction, Cosmetology, Electrical Technology, Graphics Technology, Law Enforcement and Public Safety, and Welding. All programs are available on a full-time, as well as a shared-time basis.

In addition to a variety of support programs, students have an opportunity to earn college credits while in high school. These programs are supported by partnerships with the business community, education providers, labor organizations, and community-based organizations.
Students who participate in career and technical education programs are prepared with technical and service skills that they need to be successful in the 21st century.

The Academy of Biological and Medical Sciences is a highly focused educational program centered on the application of mathematics and science through a biological and medical sciences theme. The Energy Applications Academy is highly focused on various sorts of energy and how the power is applied. This program is offered in conjunction with PSEG.

The Academy of Graphic Design in Multi-Media Technology is offered at Pennsville Memorial High School. This program provides a demanding and rigorous course of study in graphic design and multi-media training.

The Academy of Engineering and Technologies hosted at Penns Grove High School focuses its core program on mathematics, science, and pre-engineering. Students take rigorous course work at Rowan University in their senior year.

The Academy of Performing and Creative Arts consists of five disciplines. The choral/vocal and instrumental/music disciplines are offered at Pennsville Memorial High School. The drama, dance, and visual arts disciplines are offered at Schalick High School, in partnership with Appel Farm Music and Arts Center in Elmer, New Jersey.

The Academy of Communication and Information Technology hosted at Woodstown High School is designed to prepare students for a study of communications at a high level and provides opportunities for students who are talented and interested in working in a mass communications field.

The Academy Programs of the Salem County Career and Technical High School provide outstanding opportunities for students to prepare for employment, for higher education leading to employment, and for lifelong learning. District programs and services are second to none. Instructors provide an environment for students to reach their goals through applied learning and various “hands-on” experiences.
