Academy of Engineering and Technologies

Hosted at Penns Grove High School

The Academy of Engineering and Technologies is a program focused on technical excellence, communication skills, and a well-rounded general education.  Mathematics, science, and computer science courses are all linked to engineering applications and problem-solving practices.  The academy is designed to provide two distinct career pathways: a professional track leading to further education in engineering and a technical track which may lead to both higher education and/or immediate employment.  Strong mathematics skills are fundamental to both tracks of the program.

The academy’s curriculum is centered on college preparatory, honors, AP level, and collegiate courses that integrate applied academics and the sciences with computer technology.  And, at the core of the program are the science and engineering laboratory courses, all of which accentuate hands-on, team-oriented approaches to this highly multi-disciplinary field.  The academy’s science laboratories and facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and laboratory equipment that meets the latest industry standards.

The academy is a collaborative program offered by the Salem County Vocational Technical Schools in partnership with the Penns Grove-Carneys Point Regional School District, the Salem Community College, the College of Engineering at Rowan University, and the regional engineering industry.

During the spring semester, seniors will spend their day taking coursework at Rowan University as well as participating in a job shadowing experience related to engineering and technology.  Students may also participate in Rowan University’s College of Engineering Freshman Clinic.
