Academy of Creative and Performing Arts: Drama
Hosted at Arthur P. Schalick High School
The Academy of Creative and Performing Arts: Drama focuses on the discovery of self and the appreciation of the literature and practice of theater. Theater is excitement for those who make it and for those who experience it. Students who love theater and love what they are doing will find in the program a strong, broad education leading to a variety of careers and options. These include performance, design, technical theater, writing, directing, and teaching.
Students will participate in a variety of learning experiences geared for developing interpersonal skills and an appreciation and understanding for the arts and the world around them. Students will be able to take part in a number of events including An Evening of Scenes, the Fall Drama, the Spring Musical, the SCVTS Academy Showcase, and assorted events through Appel Farm Arts and Music Center.
Each academy student will experience a thorough, well-rounded theater education, ranging from performance to history and literature to all aspects of technical theater. The philosophy of this academy is to bridge the gap between theory and practice, thus bringing the student to a broader understanding of how a stage production comes together.
A stage audition is required for admission to this discipline. Information specific to this audition will be provided to the student upon application.
